The Phantasy Hack

WHAT IS THIS?

The Phantasy Hack is a tabletop roleplaying game designed to evoke the mood and tone of a certain series of JRPG videogame titles.

THE CORE MECHANISM

Whenever characters attempt something where the outcome is uncertain (e.g., shooting a biomonster, dodging a biomonster, &c.), their player rolls d20 and succeeds if the score on the dice is equal to or lesser than the attribute being tested.

Biomonsters don’t make tests: instead a character must defend against them.  Biomonsters only roll for initiative and damage.
